The Prison System

The mission is to rehabilitate legally remanded and convicted persons back into the society by exposing them to Ethical Behaviour, and Moral Leadership.  Requiring modern secure prison facilities to educate and re-educate such persons, to build character, Decency and be a productive member of society. On or off duty, prison officers are the effective role models of every prisoner transformation and the level of security expected in a free society. The trained prison officer must therefore be up to the task of constantly being watched and observed, continuously teaching speech and mannerisms, and projecting the state of A Happy Society.

Trained Prison Officers are recruited from among the general public, where physical and mental health are key elements of concern, and from other military branches to fill advance level positions. These new recruits and other new advance level officers are background traced and polygraphed as part of an intense recruitment process, to weed out undesirables. Further, oriented to the general operations and culture of the prison system, the direct responsibility of their post and trained to see prisoners as clients. Clients having done wrong against the laws of the nation, who are assigned into the prison system to be rehabilitated back into society.

Prison Officers’ Security must be taken very seriously, on or off duty, as they are endangered by and constantly exposed to the worst of society. Off duty, such officers should be entitled to and must receive state assisted, family secure housing as part of their normal employment terms and conditions. Such prison officers must be paid well with periodic cost of living adjustments and avenues available for promotions, to limit attempts and acceptance of bribery. Needing very strong morals and sustainable mental health, individual and group programs must be in place for officers to build and maintain their strong character.

Secure Prison Facilities are technically designed, constructed and operated, traditionally, to be secure and limit escapes, rather than to prepare inmates for re-entry to society. The technical or architectural design of modern prisons, now, more resemble boarding schools, with lecture halls, classrooms, and lodgings, catering for more learning than escapes. Constructed as a tertiary education campus, with a powerful and versatile intranet library system, much more teaching and learning aids than strong security bars. Operated on a shift-based, day and night, instruction system, with long school hours, motivational reward grading and staffed with more highly trained teachers than with security guards.

Rehabilitation back into Society can entail specialized programs to diagnose and re-educate; individuals or groups, to integrate productive and law-abiding members of society. Harden criminals and repeat offenders may well be diagnosed to be beyond rehabilitation and notwithstanding further attempts, must be kept out of society. While, many trusted elderly prisoners or ex-prisoners can be employed to supervise and guide underage juvenile assailants, reducing the number of re-offenders coming back into the system. It is these types of programs which can help via Mentoring and Parenting young adults, persons who are the product of a bad environment and first time offenders to change their ways.
