Crisis Management 101

Society needs you and your opinions! A difficult person is one thought of as opinionated and fixed in their own ways, at least, this person has thoughtful opinions – A Professional. Discourteous and Egocentric but with no opinion will object to any decision made by someone they do not like – A Politician. A personality who has no opinion and does not even buy into others’ opinions is just lacking in morals. Such persons do not understand right and wrong and therefore, respects the Professional while, fuels the needs of the Politician. The essential need is for humanity, all of us, to care about each other to avoid and mitigate disasters. So, when does a Politician hand over to a Professional? Only to avoid a crisis.

A Professional is a person who is self a shored. Jealous of no one but extremely humbled by persons more knowledgeable or talented, in the same field. Confident but does not seek the limelight or others attention. Basic but always appropriately dressed. Is very open to new ideas, processes and progress. Earns respect from others through their work and accomplishments, while judging others in much the same way. Carries knowledge in vocabulary and interest in questions, only to trusted sources. This person has no desire to win or embarrass anyone but will engage in research to find the truth.

A Politician is a person who is self-absorbed. Envious of others perceived privilege, status or success. Hates persons that are more recognizable, have a better physical appearance or are simply better dressed. Rude and disrespectful to and of authority. Hates gatherings in which another is the center of attention. Hates giving up the spotlight. Demands respect from all, thought of as at a lower status, and will destroy offensive persons, by any means necessary. Hides a lack of knowledge or interest to prepare, with witticisms and lies. This person must think that they have won but most importantly, must think that someone, an enemy, has loss.

An amoral person is just self-fish. “It is all about me.”, not considering the effect decisions and actions may have upon others. Changes opinions to match the conversation. This may stem from parenting, allowing the child to rule through tantrums or at the other extreme, placing too many rules on and not enough praise to the child. Resends other’s thoughts, far and wide, truth or lies, without a care. Answers questions with reasons why, the question should never have been asked in the first place. This person, with no original thought or opinion, can only see others through the “What can you do for me?”, lens.

Society desperately needs people to care and consider others, mostly strangers. Understanding and spotting human traits and impacts of such traits, is the first step in guiding people to truly care. It is in time of catastrophe, facing a common life-threatening enemy and annihilation, in which mankind is known to rise to its best. History preserves the motivational words of Politicians, the strategies of Professionals and even the statistics and heroism of amoral persons. But in successfully preventing a crisis, there are no heroes, no speeches, only an academic record of a strategic plan and professional process to aid in future avoidance of similar crisis.
