SEED Public Policy

SEED, the Society for Entrepreneur and Economic Development, which has targeted grant funds of US$4,000,000 from international donor agencies to incubate 100 startups per annum, with success stories refunding the process, making resources available for other opportunities, was officially launched on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, to assist in structuring the necessary processes and plans to move ideas into industries.

Government’s Policy & Role

Government’s Vision
To develop a welcoming, prestigious and nurturing atmosphere to move with due diligence, ideas into industries, which fosters, supportive enterprises, direct and indirect job creation and community development, resulting in diversity of the economy from one dominant sector to at least five sectors, which when added together would, contribute more than 80% of GDP.

  • To encourage the submission of ideas that would be evaluated under the preset Selection Criteria.
  • To nurture public respect for persons who create enterprise and employment opportunities.
  • To establish and promote governmental support equity based facilitation through research and incubation.

  • Ministry of Planning, Economic & Social Restructuring & Gender Affairs to examine inventive and select sectors and industries for meaningful expansion and support
  • Ministry of Labour & Small & Micro Enterprise Development to incubate and create (Jobs) employment opportunities via IBIS National Integrated Business Incubation System
  • Ministry of Trade & Industry to open markets via trade agreements and trade missions as well as to regulate via licenses and permissions industries to balance imports and exports
  • Ministry of Science, Technology & Tertiary Education with its Technical Vocational Education & Training division, to include Entrepreneurial Development  and produce both employees & employers

Council for Competitiveness and Innovation invites the presentation of Improvements, guided, prepared and structured into Strategic Industrial Plans.
Small & Micro Enterprise Development division invites the presentation of Opportunities, guided, prepared and structured into Strategic Enterprise Plans.
Opens and secures new export markets while regulating the conditions necessary to maintain a sound investment climate locally.
Science Technology and its many human resource development and career enhancement programs, incorporating Entrepreneurial Development across all disciplines, open the prospect of becoming an employer.
