Transactional Conversations

Many agree that we all seem to be buying or selling opinions rather than teaching or learning from facts. Most people love to receive awards, an expression of recognition for their achievements, and rewards, bonuses from decision-makers who value blind loyalty. Some decision-makers need expressions of agreement, as much as their need nutrients, yes people, friends, not recognizing or caring what the so call friends need or want in return. People should be surrounded by facts, provable and widely accepted truth, with limited emotions or egos. The top decision-makers love to be right and judged successful, humbly accepting good and skillfully delivering bad news, which is only possible by cultivating true friends.

Opinions from persons, who are paid or can be influenced by various types of remuneration, are to be in writing and supported by independent facts, as to become evidence. Such persons, who depend directly on you for their salaries, wages or fees to maintain their lifestyle, pay their home mortgage, finance their children education and fund their basic living expenses, will constantly agree, and giving blind loyalty, feel that they have to agree, with your opinions. Professional persons, at risk of damaging their own reputation, will transact to push facts, that do not support your expressed opinion, to the side, for more money. In other words, Opinions are traded, to strengthen relationships for gains.

Opinions that are freely given by respected persons, who are in a position to know, and have very little, if anything to gain, must be seriously considered in decision-making. Such persons; predecessors, retirees, mentors or like-minded individuals, who do not depend on you for anything, will not constantly agree, or offer blind loyalty to you and your opinions. These types of persons, decision-makers in their own right, would more than not unassumingly, listen and engage in metaphoric types of conversations, allowing solutions to spring naturally, understanding the position you, the current decision-maker, are in. Hence, having such trustworthy friends is the key to success.

Conversations with friends, who have no reason to maintain loyalty, is needed to confirm or disprove opinions. Transactions with persons, who are paid or benefit in any way from such relations, is essential to clearly understand the facts, while noting the source and bias of such opinions. Facts must be examined in detail and tested, scientifically under lab conditions to repetitively achieve the same results, and market tested employing focus groups with measured and defined demographics, to formulate actionable decisions. Decisions, before implementation, must be fitted into the long-term strategic plan to accomplish desired results, requiring both expert and loyal opinions.

Friends who share their honest opinions, borne of demonstrable and widely accepted facts, without pledging blind loyalty, are rare and difficult to foster. Facts, before becoming news, formed out of actions of nature and man-made decisions, may be interpreted as Good or Bad for you. Good facts can be promoted as caused by you, your policies, your implementations, your selected team, selling your abilities. Bad facts are generally turned or spinned into opportunities for you, your strategies, your applications, with your executing team, which you previously recommended. Hence, defining Good and Bad facts is the primary task requiring unbiased truth from all you consider friends.
