Leading Leaders

We all play a role in leadership. No one is a permanent leader. The process is constantly shifting from Discuss, to Decide to Do, utilizing Experts, Executives and Everybody Else. Experts Discuss problems and form solutions. Executives Decide on which solution will be most efficient and effective. Everybody Else must buy into the solution and participate in its enactment to better lifestyles and fuel Happiness. The Vision is a future driven by Sustainable Development for all. The Mission involves all, and is in danger, if anyone is left uneducated, driven purely by Ego or Greed. Hence, understanding Leadership or Education is vital.

Persons who have studied, researched, learnt, understood, and have experienced process with negative or positive results. Experts, trained in their respected fields, skilled to remain disciplined, and experienced as a professional to defer to others with greater access to changes in proven source data. Such Experts are required to monitor, test and measure circumstances, report, and advise on future and appropriate actions. Constantly seeking better, these Experts and teams of understudies must be incredibly careful with their conclusions, using phrases like “with the data currently available” and based on these factors” to protect their own and that of their teams’ credibility. Safely staying clear of miscommunications Thoughts, Opinions & Decisions.

Persons, who have been elected, selected, promoted, and are temporarily placed into decision-making roles. Executives which represent a constituent of the Population, Operations, or Workers are seen as the lead decision-makers. Issues and Problems, which affect daily Life and Lifestyles, economic output or productivity, and working conditions, are brought to these Executives’ attention. Such Executives must deal with these issues and problems by listening to experts’ advice, and balancing the desired outcomes against the anticipated results, and effectively communicating the decisions and action plans to the wider public for acceptance. Hence, there can be no progress without all Executives expressing agreement and endorsing the Strategic Plan.

Persons, who are to benefit from strategic change are also charged with the implementation of the plan. Such persons comprise Everybody Else because progress only takes place with very wide acceptance. Wide Acceptance by the persons employed to monitor, maintain, and repair the systems. Wide Acceptance by the persons charged to actually do the initial manual work. Wide Acceptance of the economic costing and pricing. Wide Acceptance of the need for such improvements. And most importantly, wide acceptance of the way such change came about. Noting that there will always be a minority portion of the population negatively impacted by the planned changes that must be appeased.

Not Top Down or Bottom Up, solutions and progress must be balanced with the true midpoint being sustainable development. Enforcing the majority of affected people acceptance, and the elected representatives to do their job, in accepting or denying expert conclusions. Decisions from the so-called Top Down Prescriptions, will be evidence based, expert advice, but sanitized with personal goals. Bottom up Solutions are filtered through the most aggressive presenters, amplifying the worst-case scenarios and unproven positions to cause fear and panic among the masses, and also with personal bias. It is sustainable development decisions that are transparently negotiated and jointly communicated which must be adopted to achieve Happiness.
